DoubleClick, the world's leading supplier of advertising technology, has released a comprehensive study that taps in on the latest email marketing trends. It looks at the evolution of key factors such as open rate of e-mails, click-through and purchase conversion, as well as the number of marketing e-mails that are actually delivered and not bounced by the internet companies or company firewalls. While 2005 has seen record high delivery rates, the open rates have declined due factors such as auto-suppression of images by security software, outdated email addresses in the sender's database as well as consumer selectivity. Scanning industry-wise however shows that business-to-business publishing is amongst the sectors that enjoy highest open rates. It also points out the increase in click-to-purchase conversion rate during 2005 compared to that of the previous year.
